What makes CBD different from Hemp and THC?

Hemp is an oil derived from the fiber of a Hemp plant (a form of the cannabis plant). Hemp extract comes by pressing of the seeds, like the production of olive oil. Hemp seeds do not contain THC, the compound which provides a euphoric feeling when consumed. Hemp is taken as a vitamin and antioxidant source because of its high supply of minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants. Side effects of Hemp are minimal and rare; high doses may cause drowsiness, diarrhea or anxiety.

THC refers to Tetrahydrocannabinol, a crystalline compound, the active ingredient of Cannabis. THC is consumed by inhaling and ingesting. Smoking recreational marijuana is common — many states within the US consider THC to be illegal or allow for medical use only.

THC is regularly used for pain management, low appetite and anxiety; however, the side effects of THC are very different from CBD and Hemp. THC causes a “high” or euphoric feeling which can lead to paranoia and anxiety, red and irritated eyes, drowsiness, dry mouth, and increased appetite.
